Ponds, lakes, trees, beaches, flowers, birds, frogs, bugs. These are what I am most drawn to when I sit down to paint or illustrate.  Each individual critter pulls me in to observe what it is doing at that exact moment. What is it thinking, or not thinking? What is it also observing? The light and wind that touches water reveals a moment in time that can never be repeated. That is, unless it’s repeated as a piece of art. That is my inspiration. There are so many colors and shadows to observe in life. Capturing that moment, be it exciting or mundane, is a challenge I welcome.  A vast breathtaking landscape? A dragonfly landing on a branch? A frog in my garden? A flower about to bloom? A sailboat moored in a lake? A child building a snowman? A simple rock? Yes! Everything is a potential painting. Bring it on!

Bio

I have dabbled in art since I can remember and I used to build dollhouses and taught classes on making miniatures. I have worked with fabric, Fimo, and paper. I now paint mostly with acrylic, but love all mediums. Some of my favorite subjects to paint or to illustrate are frogs, birds, rocks, buildings, and landscapes. Someone once described my paintings as abstract realism. I mainly use my own photographs as my subject matter.
