Jane Sandberg
Watercolor and Gouache
“I believe artists can be created. An individual needs to be inspired, have the intention to learn and be willing to put effort into the learning process. Art books, magazines, other artists and teachers are all helpful, as well as an eagerness to try new techniques and enjoy the process.”
Bio
Jane R. Sandberg was raised surrounded by the lakes and mountains of the Adirondacks. When she moved to Vermont, Jane lived in Barre, amidst the granite sculptures. As she raised her 3 children, she took classes in stained glass and pastels. Her love of rich colors was born. Jane also studied figure drawing in pastel. A class in NH, began her desire to learn how to learn the technique of watercolor.
Her semester in Italy, and travels throughout Europe exposed her to wonderful works of art. She graduated from SUNY Oswego with a degree in Elementary Education. Jane also graduated from VTC with a degree in Landscape Development and Ornamental Horticulture. While there she was taught freehand drawing and drafting.
In 2004 Jane won First Prize in Watercolor during the NVAA June Juried Show, at the Bryant Gallery, in Jeffersonville. She is a member of the Essex Art League, where she enjoys painting with friends and is a Signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society.
