Marianne Nealy
Soft Pastels
The recent focus of my work is to see a new and different composition within the many beautiful seasons and landscapes of Vermont. Using the pastel as a drawing medium and the craft of painting I enjoy adding unexpected colors and marks to the work. I enjoy trying various papers and liquid mediums as a sub layer before the final layer of pastel. The saturated colors found in the pastel medium lend themselves to so many options which can make images vibrate and jump from the paper.
Bio
Vibrant colors in our Vermont scenery inspires Marianne Nealy's passion for the pastel painting medium. Marianne began painting with soft pastels over 30 years ago and has continued to learn and grow with the medium since. As a self taught painter, she is drawn to paint what she sees in the landscape. As a busy mom and educator, Marianne continued to develop her skill and interest in the medium over the years while on vacation or on weekends. Now in retirement, Marianne has found time to expand and explore color and technique with pastels in her studio and en plein air with her colleagues from the Essex Art League and the Vermont Pastel Society.
